VACUUM BRAKE HOSE

1985-06-01
HISTORICAL
J1403_198506
Vacuum brake hose is intended for use in the power braking systems of vehicles or as connections on transmission lines in combinations of vehicles or systems thereof. For the purpose of clearly identifying the scopes and simplification of the specification, the vacuum brake hose specification is divided into two types with two classes as follows: Heavy-Wall Type H, Class A and B and Light-Wall Type L, Class A and B.

PACKAGING, STORAGE, AND SHELF LIFE OF HYDRAULIC BRAKE HOSE ASSEMBLIES

1985-06-01
HISTORICAL
J1288_198506
This report is the listing of recommendations for the proper packaging, storage, and shelf life limitations of new and unused hydraulic brake hose assemblies. The report embodies the testing, analysis, and experience of many users and manufacturers. Where specific manufacturer's recommendations are made, those recommendations shall supersede the recommendations of this report. This report describes the successful procedures and practices associated with brake hose assemblies usage by a wide cross section of manufacturers and users over several years. The practices are expected to be applicable to all brake hose assemblies which qualify under SAE Standard J1401.

APPLICATION OF HYDRAULIC BRAKE HOSE TO MOTOR VEHICLES

1981-03-01
HISTORICAL
J1406_198103
This recommended practice covers the application of hydraulic brake hose (as defined by SAE J1401 FEB79, Road Vehicle–Hydraulic Brake Hose Assemblies for Use with Non-Petroleum Base Hydraulic Fluids) as used to provide a flexible hydraulic connection between brake system components on motor vehicles.

AUTOMOTIVE HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM—METRIC BANJO BOLT CONNECTIONS

1980-07-01
HISTORICAL
J1291_198007
This recommended practice documents dimensional metric specifications for hydraulic brake system threaded ports and banjo bolts for the interconnection of major components in automotive hydraulic brake systems. Banjo blocks are not covered by this recommended practice. The purpose of this document is to recommend preferred metrically dimensioned components (including alternative choices). Some applications may require sizes or forms other than those shown herein, and this document does not preclude such other details when they are required.

AUTOMOTIVE HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM—METRIC TUBE CONNECTIONS

1980-07-01
HISTORICAL
J1290_198007
This recommended practice documents dimensional metric specifications for hydraulic brake system tubing with flared ends, threaded ports, and male tube nuts for the interconnection of major components in automotive hydraulic brake systems. The purpose of this document is to recommend preferred metrically dimensioned components (including alternative choices), that are intended to be functionally compatible with International Organization for Standardization Specification, ISO 4038-1977 (E). Some applications may require sizes or forms other than those shown herein, and this document does not preclude such other details when they are required.

POWER STEERING PRESSURE HOSE – LOW VOLUMETRIC EXPANSION TYPE

1970-08-01
HISTORICAL
J191_197008
The specification covers hose fabricated from fabric braid and synthetic rubber, assembled with end fittings for use in automotive power steering applications at pressures as indicated in Table 1, as flexible connections within the temperature range of –40 C (–40 F) to 121 C (250 F) average, 149 C (300 F) maximum peaks. These hoses are intended for use in applications where reduction in amplitude of pump pressure pulsations is not required.

POWER STEERING PRESSURE HOSE — HIGH VOLUMETRIC EXPANSION TYPE

1970-08-01
HISTORICAL
J188_197008
This specification covers two types of hose fabricated from fabric braid and synthetic rubber, assembled with end fittings for use in automotive power steering applications as flexible connections within the temperature range of –40 to +121 C (–40 to +250 F) average, + 149 C (+ 300 F) maximum peaks. These hoses are intended for use in applications where reduction in amplitude of pump pressure pulsations is required. Type 1 hose shall be suitable for 1500 psi maximum working pressure. Type 2 hose shall be suitable for 1300 psi maximum working pressure.
